As we head in to our
2012-2013 distribution year we are looking for a lot of help
this year. We are hoping to be able to help over 1,000 children
this year get the backpacks that they need to go to school.
The
big news for this year was our expansion in to the Lycoming and
Bradford County area. With the help of Janie Hershey we were
able to expand in to these areas and help even more children.
Our
friends at A.P. Wagner have already started sending donations
our way. They have already delivered at least 2 boxes of school
supplies.
We
hope to get a lot of help this year because the cost of
backpacks will be approximately $5,500 to $6,000 and that is
just for the backpacks.
The
paperwork has been received from the IRS regarding our
Non-profit status. We have been approved so we are now a 501(c)3
certified Non-profit organization. This should help us with
getting grants and donations from major corporations like
Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. Unfortunately these companies will not
even talk to you unless you have that paperwork. We have been
working on this for over 2 years and the time has finally come.
